Dr Chad Newell Widdison, DVM, was born July 11, 1932 In Newdale, Idaho and passed away May 25, 2019. Son of Thomas and Mina Widdison. Chad came into this world with the odds stacked against him, weighing in at only 4 lbs he was not given much hope at life. While still an infant he contracted the measles and doctors again had little hope of his survival. He proved them wrong on both accounts. He went on to not only live but thrive.
Chad’s family moved several times before finally settling on a farm in Hooper which he dearly loved. Chad graduated from Weber High School where he wrestled and won the State championship. This is also where he met his sweetheart Lorna. They were married in 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Chad served 4 years in the Navy as Petty Officer First Class coding and receiving coded messages. At one point he took his wife and son Kirk to live on Guam for a year. When he finished his Navy service he attend Agricultural College of Utah (now Utah State College) then went on to Washington State University where he completed his schooling to become a large animal Veterinarian.
He then brought his family back to West Point, Utah and he started his practice. After few years Chad and his good friend & partner Dr. John Allred opened their own Clinic in Roy where they ran a successful practice together for over 50 years. There they were joined by other Veterinarians over the years including Dr. Earl Rogers. He served as President of the Utah Veterinary Medical Association (UVMA).
Chad was an excellent veterinarian, a great friend, the best husband & father you could ever imagine, and the kind of man we all should aspire to be. He will be truly missed by countless people who have had the privilege of knowing him throughout his life.
He is survived by his loving sweetheart Lorna, son Kelly, daughter-in-law Mary, granddaughter Brenna, great-grandchildren Olivia and Decius. He was proceeded in death by his son Kirk, his parents, and his sister Patricia Scott.
