Celeste Verna Thomas left her earthly home to play with the angels she so adored on Friday, December 9, 2016 at the Aspen Care Center in Ogden, UT. She fought valiantly to stay, battling through many health problems throughout her life. She was born Verna Mae Getzlaff on December 23, 1945 to Carl Otto Getzlaff and Verna Margaret Getzlaff(Schmidt) in Hammond, Indiana. She was their only child and the pride and joy of her mother’s life.
She spent the majority of her life seeking good. She will be remembered for her acting, singing, accordion playing, organ teaching, religion seeking, love for the color yellow and a fondness for animals-even the tiniest ones.
She will now be the guardian angel to her husband, Keven and her three children-John (Lynne) Thieling, Salt Lake City, UT Peggy(Zag) Evans, Salt Lake City, UT and Anthony(Ricki) Chambers, St George, UT. She also will watch over her 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter, Rylan.
Her family would like to especially thank her many friends and caregivers throughout the years that shaped her into the inspiring woman she was.
