Cecile Horne Sorrell, age 93, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2021. She was born August 15, 1927, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Joseph and Annie Laurie Horne. She married her love WC Sorrell in May of 1947. WC preceded her in death in 2006.
Raising six children took up most of Cile’s time; however, somehow, she found time to be an exceptional housekeeper, volunteer for St.
Cile’s most favorite pastime was going to beautiful Pensacola Beach, she loved a great tan. She also enjoyed playing Bunko with the neighborhood gals and most of all going to the casinos in Gulfport with her best friend Joyce Harvilchuck.
WC and Cile were fortunate as their children grew older to have time to travel both abroad and locally. They enjoyed trips to Acapulco, Mexico, Hong Kong, and Finland. Family and friends trips included Highlands, North Carolina, Gatlinburg, Tennessee, Weatherford, Texas, Washington DC, and Brunswick, Maine. Such a rich life Cile enjoyed.
Cile was preceded by her sister Barbara Horne Bell and Jacqueline Horne Barr as well as her son Michael Richard Sorrell.
She is survived by her daughters and their spouses Sherrin and Robert Wilson, Laurie and Steven Myers, and Elizabeth and Keith Reid. She is also survived by her sons and their spouses Will and Lisa Sorrell and Rod and Jane Sorrell.
Cile was blessed with thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. All of whom she adored.
