Cecil “Wayne” Downs passed away on November 20, 2021. He was born Cecil Wayne Barton on July 16, 1936, in Woodward, Oklahoma to Viola (Douglas) and Woodrow Barton. At the age of 9, he was adopted by his stepfather Clifford Downs.
Wayne was working at a sawmill in Oregon when he married his wife of 57 years, Jessie Schweighauser, and together they had 2 children. He worked as a commercial truck driver for many years, then moved on to Estes Industries in machine maintenance, where he later retired. Wayne was crafty and did a lot of tinkering in his barn and enjoyed going to the auctions.
He is survived by his wife, Jessie; daughter, Debbie (Mark) Knisley; grandchildren, Stephanie Dalton, Matthew (Mandy) Hoaglund, and Nathan (Kayla) Hoaglund; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Lexi, Steven, Aubri, Matt, Mike, and Wyatt; sister, Lee Schweighauser; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents and son, Michael.
