Cecil “Sam” Marsh, 82, of Thornton, formerly of Tunnelton, WV, died on Monday, January 23, 2017, at Wallace B. Murphy Nursing Care located in the Grafton City Hospital.

Sam was born March 20, 1934, in Valley Furnace, a son of the late Overton and Hazel (Poling) Marsh.

He was a 1951 graduate of Kason High School. Sam was the owner of Cecil Marsh and Sons Trucking of Tunnelton and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Reedsville. Sam retired in 2003 with over 50 years in the trucking business, realizing he couldn’t quit working, he began driving for Preston Sanitation until his health became bad. He enjoyed talking on his CB using the handle “Cornbinder”, fishing, hunting, camping, racing, sitting at the camp and watching the deer. He loved being surrounded by his family. He was a loving father and grandfather.

He is survived by two sons and spouses, Randy Lee and Darla Marsh, Kevin and Virgie Marsh; one daughter and spouse, Denise and Thomas Evans, all of Tunnelton; three brothers and spouses, Richard and Donna Jo Marsh of Belington, Roger and Sue Marsh, Donnie and Linda Marsh, all of Philippi; one sister and spouse, Sandy and Phillip Ferguson of Belington; five grandchildren, Nicholas Marsh and fiancé Billie Jo , Brandon Marsh and fiancé Lacy, Casey Marsh, Chris and Regina Marsh, Holly and Seth Wiles; six great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Marsh, Arianna Marsh, Stella Marsh, Kirkland Sendling, Isabella Sendling, Kasen Wiles; six step-grandchildren, Gage, Charles, Ashtyn, Malaki, Kohlton and Elexis; and his dog, Sebastian.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Patty Lee (Layton) Marsh on July 4, 2008.

Friends may call at the Rotruck-Lobb Kingwood Chapel, 295 South Price Street on Wednesday, January 25, 2017, from 3-8pm; on Thursday, January 26, 2017, from 10:00 a.m.
