Cecil Isbell, 80, passed away peacefully from complications of the COVID-19 Pneumonia virus in Crestwood Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama on February 6, 2021.
Cecil was born November 2, 1940 in Madison County, Alabama to Floyd Rice and Louella Giles Isbell. In 1959, he graduated from Arab High School in Arab, Al.
Cecil could accomplish anything he set his mind to do. While serving in The National Guard of Alabama, Cecil was introduced to photography and served as a photographer for the military, leading to his initial career as a commercial photographer. Always innovating, Cecil started two successful businesses – Quality Photo Services in Huntsville, AL and Photo Pronto One Hour Film Developing Labs, opened with his wife, Kathy, and located throughout Huntsville and North Alabama. His customers included Fortune 500 companies as well as Federal and State governments.
Pioneering ran in Cecil’s family. He is a descendant of the First Families of Alabama. Cecil enjoyed farming and raising black angus cattle in his spare time. He supplied major retailers with beef, and enjoyed his membership and friendships over the years in The Alabama Cattlemen’s Association. He continued those interests throughout retirement.
Cecil is survived by his wife of 36 years, Kathalene ( Kathy) Weaver Solomon Isbell of Ardmore, AL, brother James Nolan and wife Peggy Martin Isbell of Arab, AL, sister Dorothy Isbell Reid of Arab, AL, Sister-In-Law’s Carolyn Parker Isbell of Arab, & Roza Bozarth of Athens, AL., step-son Barry A. Solomon of Huntsville, AL, step-daughter Terri G. Solomon McGhee and husband Frank McGhee of Dallas, TX, step grandchildren Alexander F. McGhee and wife Lacey Williams McGhee and Brian R. McGhee of Dallas, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Kenneth Wayne Isbell of Arab, Al and Garland Glenn Isbell of Athens, Al.
Cecil was a member of the Baptist faith and attended Marble Plains Baptist Church in Winchester, TN.
Pall Bearers will include Cecil’s step – grandchildren, Alexander F. and Brian R. McGhee of Dallas, TX, son-in-law – Frank McGhee, Ray Hallmark, Chris Isbell, Robert Glenn, and Lavelle Smalley (honorary).
