Cecil E. Deckard, 93, of Bloomington passed away Friday, December 11, 2020 at Brown County Health and Living Center.

Born January 11, 1927 in Brown County, he was the son of Enoch and Pearl (Mitchner) Deckard. He married Shirley Bales on July 28, 1952 and she preceded him in death in 2006.

Cecil worked for Bybee Stone Mill, Western Auto; he was also a mailman before starting Deckard Construction Company, where he built new homes. Cecil built the home to which he lived in for 56 years.

Cecil was a WWII Army Veteran. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved animals, especially his dogs and horses, being outdoors, gardening and boating. Cecil and his wife Shirley also enjoyed their season tickets, going every weekend, to the Little Nashville Opry because Cecil loved country music. Cecil had a strong love for his family especially his grandchildren and his grand-dogs. Cecil was of Pentecostal faith. He was always laughing and joking with everyone and he always made the best of any situation.

Survivors include his daughter, Kimberly Holmes of Unionville; his son, Daran Deckard of Bloomington; grandchildren, Stacey Isom (Tim), and Jo Ratts-Thompson (Kent) all of Bloomington; great-grandchildren, Connor and Ryan Isom.

Cecil was preceded in death by wife, Shirley of 54 years; brothers, Ivan, Orval, Jack, Ralph, John, Glenn Deckard and a sister, Retta Deckard
