Cecil Clyde Tacy, 88 of Clarksburg passed away on December 15, 2018 at the WV Veterans Nursing Facility where he was the last surviving veteran of the initial intake of residents when the facility opened.  He was born August 24, 1930, in Huttonsville, WV, son of the late Sherman Theodore. and Ruby Cutright Tacy. 

Cecil served his country in the US Army. After returning from the military, he worked at the Marble Factory in Bridgeport, was a carpenter for Palmer Construction and was lastly self-employed as a carpenter when he retired.  He enjoyed collecting and building model trucks and cars.  His hobbies included, hunting, fishing, dancing, working jigsaw puzzles and listening to country music. He had a true love for his family, friends and small animals especially his little Pomeranian, “Toyota”.

He is survived by one son, Kevin Tacy and wife Brenda, Clarksburg; two daughters, Charlotte Crites, Fort Dodge, IA, Carmelita Pierce and companion Walt Kreiling, Salem; six grandchildren, Melissa Dawn Grill, Angela Pearson, Jeremy Crites, James Pierce, Paul Wilmoth and Stevie Wilmoth; several great grandchildren; sister, Beverly Arbogast, Greenville, PA; three stepsons, Charles, Harry and Earl Sandy; very close friend and like a daughter, Paula Kay Gainer Altman, Clarksburg, special great niece, Bonnie Powell and husband Earl, Lost Creek; additional friends, John Lamp, Clarksburg; Rick and Karen Strosnider, Whitehouse, OH, and Melody Wiant, Clarksburg and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jimmy Tacy; two sisters, Jean Smith and husband William Harold Smith Sr.

Family and friends would like to thank the staff at the WV Veterans Nursing Facility for their love and care of Mr. Tacy along with Amedisys Hospice.
