Catherine T. Tyrell, of Little Egg Harbor Twp., formerly of Barnegat, NJ, passed away peacefully in her sleep early Saturday morning. Catherine leaves behind a daughter, Catherine L. Antener of Barnegat; grandchildren Amanda Kellum-Barrett and her husband Tanner, Cynthia Lockie, Daniel Lockie, and Sandra Lockie-Hastings and her husband Kevin. Catherine had 4 great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
She was predeceased by her son, James D. Lockie, who died in 2006, and her sister Joan Sasala, who died in 1987.
Catherine was born in Perth Amboy, NJ. As a young woman, she was a member of the Raritan Yacht Club and its Women’s Auxiliary, and enjoyed sailing the Raritan Bay with her beloved husband Walter J. Antener, who died in 1956. In later years, Catherine lived in Red Bank, NJ, and worked as a high-fashion retail shop manager before moving to Manchester Twp., NJ in 1985 to care for her ailing parents, Mary and Clarence “Doc” Tyrrell, both of whom passed in 1988.
