Our dear momma, Catherine Vendetti Relich, passed away on July 8th at the age of 90. Born in Brewster, Colorado on November 7, 1931, she was the oldest of 3 children and could always be found with her nose in a book.

Catherine married the love of her life, George Relich, on September 16th, 1950, and together, they raised seven children. She loved telling the story of how her oldest and youngest children were born on the same day, nine years apart.

Catherine talked often of the large garden that was grown behind the family home and how the entire family pitched in to plant, water, weed and harvest. Catherine was a 4-H leader for many years and was proud of the fact that she taught all her girls, and even some of the boys, in cooking, sewing and food preservation. She enjoyed league bowling in her younger years and Sunday drives in the Colorado mountains with George.

When she wasn’t reading a romance novel, she loved all types of crafting. As soon as she learned that someone was having a baby, off she went to the store for yarn to crochet a baby blanket. Her most coveted craft was the annual felt Christmas ornament that she made for her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and children of friends. A Christmas tradition for over 30 years, each ornament was hand-sewn and never the same pattern.

Her blue eyes and beautiful smile will be missed by all who knew her and especially her family; children, Danny (Trena) Relich, Steve (Cindy) Relich, Julia (Fred) Radtke, Connie (Tom) Martin, Nick (Denise) Relich, Gail (Page) Dexter, 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her husband, George and her daughter Diana Hallett.
