Catherine “Peggy” Ann McMahon (Gardiner), 90, of Melbourne, FL, formerly of Pasadena, Maryland, passed away on Sept. 24, 2018, surrounded by her family.
Catherine was born in Baltimore, Maryland. She graduated with a bachelors degree from Towson State University and later earned a Masters equivalency degree in Early Childhood Education.
Her nurturing, compassionate, and giving nature made her perfect for her profession as a teacher as well as a loving mother and grandmother. She retired from Lake Shore Elementary School after 30 years of teaching. Following retirement, she and her husband, Jack, travelled extensively throughout the United States in their recreational vehicle and abroad. Catherine lived a faith-filled life and was active with church activities, such as the Legion of Mary and pregnancy centers.
She was preceded in death recently by her beloved husband John “Jack” McMahon. After 60 inseparable years of marriage, it was not unexpected that they would be together again in eternal peace.
She is survived by daughters Mary Frances “Fran” Buchness (Alec Buchness), Brenda Jean Cavallaro (Tom Cavallaro), Karen Catherine Hedley; Grandchildren Lauren, Lance and Lilia Buchness, Benjamin, Jonathan, Daniel and Nathaniel Cavallaro, Sarah, Christopher, and Ian Hedley; Her siblings; Ann Hannon, Mildred Zamostny, Marghareta Bruce and a host of loving nieces, nephews and friends.
