Catherine Dean Moyer was born May 17, 1935 in Obion County, Tennessee. Her parents were Herold Austin Dean and Mattie (Minnick) Dean. Catherine was graduated from Cloverdale High School in 1953, In 1955 she moved to Peoria, Illinois to be with her family who had previously moved there. She went to work for First Federal Savings. After attending night school to learn shorthand she was promoted to secretary to George Sweighert, Corporate Secretary of First Federal. In 1957 Catherine, her sister, Juanita and two friends moved to Los Angeles. There Catherine was secretary to Rex Perkins, Loan Officer of Metropolitan Savings and Loan Assn. Catherine married James W. Buchanan Jr. In 1962 and they were divorced in 1972.
