BLOOMING TON – CATHERINE MAXINE (JACKSON) CRANFILL, 91, former resident of Dunkirk, Muncie and most recently Bloomington, IN, passed away peacefully at IU Health, Bloomington, on Wednesday March 27.th

She was born Sept. 29,th 1921, in Fairmont, W. VA. She was the daughter of Claude and Della Mae Jackson. She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband William “Bill” Cranfill, infant son Rodger, and 2 brothers. She is survived by her son, Larry Cranfill (Lorraine) of Indianapolis, her daughter Taffana Batten (Denis) of Bloomington, seven grandchildren; Dawn Cranfill of Fishers, Scott Cranfill (Kate) of Indianapolis,

Chadd Cranfill (Julie) of Fishers, Heather Gardner (Brad) of Ellettsville, Monica Batten of Bloomington, Stacey Shinovich of Indianapolis and Steven Shinovich of Indianapolis, and will always be lovingly known as G.G. by her 10 great-grandchildren; Lexi, Austin, Noah, Chase, Claire, Hannah, Ari, Aaron, Blake and Adam.

Maxine was a life member of the American Legion Auxillary Post #227 and Elks Lodge 1776, both of Dunkirk. 

She was very proud of her family and created a strong foundation of dedication to her family, her boundless spirit and unconditional love to each and every member. She was a

“small package” that made a big impact on those who were fortunate to have her touch and bless their lives. The family is most appreciative of personal care, affection, humor and security that her daughter Taffy gave over her last few years. She lovingly stepped into the role as caregiver allowing Maxine to have the joy and dignity of remaining comfortable and independent.
