Catherine L. (Reed) Barlow, age 89, of W. Wilford Street, Grafton, was surrounded by her family Friday, September 3, 2010 when she went to be with the Lord following a brief illness. She was born in Grafton, August 10, 1921, the oldest of seven children of the late James Ervin Reed and Lucy L. (King) Reed. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, James L. Barlow, July 17, 2002. Mrs. Barlow was a homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh and make others laugh. She enjoyed watching Mountaineer games and listening to the Bearcat games. After raising her children, she and her husband lived in Mexico and Indonesia and traveled to several other countries. She liked to take rides around “the loop” (as she called it), meaning around Tygart Lake State Park. She also liked to crochet and play cards. She was a member of the Saint Augustine Catholic Church, a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and had been a volunteer at the Taylor County Senior Center. Surviving are: three children, James Michael Barlow and wife Karol, of Grafton, Robert Lee Barlow, of Grafton, and Pamela Sue Rhoden and husband James, of Buckhannon; eight grandchildren, Cheryl “Peanuts” Lambert, Laurie Smith, Josie Johnson, Whitney Barlow, John Hess, and David Barlow, all of Grafton, Jimmy Barlow and Krista Burger, both of Charleston, WV; thirteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Jacqueline Logullo and husband Jim, of Elkton, MD; one brother James Ralph Reed and wife Delores, of Grafton, a special niece, Anna Mary Firth, of Arlington, VA and former daughter-in-law Sharon Duckworth, of Grafton; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: three sisters, Alice Dearth, Mary Hardin, and Delores “Dorrie” Wise; and one brother, Lawrence Reed, in infancy.
