Catherine Herman Bates McHugh died peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, Septmeber 13, 2014. Beloved wife of Martin McHugh ; daughter of Richard and the late Peggy Herman; mother of John Bates (Karen), Mary Bates MacVittie (Tom), & Sara Bates; grandmother of Elizabeth, Thomas & Katie MacVittie, Allison & Christopher Bates; Cashers of Molly, Bridget, Evan & Kendra Cole, Kyle, Colin, Caleb & Zofia McHugh; Sister of Anne Herman Jensen, Richard Herman (Sherry) & Michael Herman; niece of Nan Martin.
Catherine was a graduate of Omaha Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart in 1961. She graduated from Barat College in Lake Forest, Illinois 1965. Catherine was awarded a Masters in Theology from Georgetown, and Masters of Theology from Washington Theological union. She was a Chaplin with Montgomery Hospice from 1989 until 2003.
