Catherine Fonda Pappas, 90, of 229 Branford Road, North Branford passed away Oct. 7, 2015 at her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Efthimios “Jerry” Pappas. Born in New Haven on May 31, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Madeline DeRenzo Fonda. As an experienced seamstress, she sewed parachutes during World War II as well as sewing her childrens clothes as kids; making aprons for the girls in the hair salon and later, repairing many an item for people at the senior center she attended. She worked as a hairdresser for more than fifty years at Personality Hair Salon on Orange St. in New Haven and at Infiniti in and raised in New Haven, she lived in New Haven until 1965 when she moved to Orange. She has lived in North Branford since 2004.
She is survived by her daughter, Vivian Pappas of North Branford, with whom she resided; her son, Steve (Karen) Pappas of Clinton; one brother, Albert Fonda; three grandchildren, Paul Lawrence, Nicole and Michael Pappas; and a great grandchild, Nicholas Lawrence. She was predeceased by a brother, Ralph Fonda Jr.
