Catherine “Cathy” Eva Davis, beloved big sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully in her home on May 3, 2022, at the age of 67.
Cathy, the daughter of Stanley and Barbara (Maxwell) Smith was born in Ft. Benning, Georgia on February 27, 1955. Cathy graduated from Colfax High School in 1973. After graduation, Cathy proudly served in the Army. In 1977, she was honorably discharged. Cathy then returned to Iowa where she worked at Maytag until its closure and later retiring from Park Centre.
Cathy was united in marriage to the love of her life, Jon Davis on April 4, 1997. They happily spent 21 loving years together on the Davis Family Farm in rural Newton. Cathy loved gardening, hosting family dinners and holidays-especially the 4th of July, family camping trips, and her cat, Pearl.
Those left to honor her memory are her siblings, Bryon (Diana) Smith and Kim Smith; sister-in-law, Sharon Jolley; brother-in-law, Tom Davis; aunts, Ellen (Dave) Lowell and Nancy (Ron) Bruxvoort; nieces and nephews, Melissa Porter, Mike (Missy) Smith, Jeff (Kelly) Jolley, Jason Jolley, Erik Davis, and Jennifer Newman; and her many great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; Stanley and Barbara Smith and husband, Jon Davis.
