Lakeland – Catherine Elizabeth Shepherd, 88, affectionately known as “Katie” or “Gaga” by friends and family, went home, to be with her beloved Lord and Savior, Wednesday, October 30, 2013, as a result of natural causes.
Mrs. Shepherd was born October 3, 1925 in Athens, AL. She and her family moved to Lakeland in 1946. Mrs. Shepherd was employed by Shep’s Gun Shop, which was a Lakeland landmark for over 37 years founded by her late husband, Shep, in 1946. She served as the shop’s bookkeeper for 25 years until her retirement in 1976. Mrs.
Mrs. Shepherd was preceded in death by her beloved husband, of 54 years, Earl “Shep” Shepherd. She is survived by her son, Thomas E. Shepherd and his wife, Judy; daughters, Linda A. Williams and Judy E. Purvis and her husband, John; grandsons, Eddie and James; granddaughters, Kim, Missy and Mandy; 10 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild with another on the way.
