Catherine C.(Concannon) Gilroy, age 83, of Toms River, passed away Sunday, June 2nd, 2013 at her home with her family by her side. Catherine was born in Elizabeth, on June 3rd, 1929 to Michael and Winifred Concannon. Catherine and her family moved to Toms River 46 years ago. Catherine was a Secretary for St. Joseph Grade School, Toms River.
She has been an active parishioner and Eucharistic minister, for many years at St. Joseph RC Church, Toms River. Catherine was also involved with St. Joseph’s Catholic Educational program for many years. Catherine enjoyed sewing and was an exceptional seamstress for family and neighbors in the Toms River community. Catherine is preceded in death by her loving husband, James Gilroy, Sr. and her son, Thomas Gilroy.
She is survived by her children, James Gilroy, Jr. and his wife Denise of Princeton Junction, NJ, Edward Gilroy of Wilmington, NC, Maryellen Flynn and her husband Michael of Browns Mills, NJ; daughter-in-law, Tracy Gilroy of Brick, NJ, sisters, Mary Coates of PA and Mary Rose Farmar of Barnegat, NJ; eleven grandchildren, Ryan and his fiancee Wendy, Jimmy and his wife, Amberle, Shane, Allison, Kerri, Peter, Tyler, Kevin, Austin, Gavin and Eian; one great grandson, Concannon; and sister-in-laws, Vivienne Gilroy and Patricia Lyons.
