Cary “Adam” Gertie was born on June 30, 1995, in Aurora Colorado to Cary and Trisha (Anderson) Gertie. His childhood began in Aurora, CO before moving to Parker, Colorado in Elbert County.

His education began at Joy Lutheran Preschool with his remaining school years attending Singing Hills Elementary, Elizabeth Middle School and graduating from Elizabeth High School in May of 2013.

In 2014, he enlisted with the United States Marine Corp where he served his country for four years. Stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA, he was deployed to several countries over those four years. Adam was an accomplished marksman which was a source of great pride. He was honorably discharged in 2018 at the rank of Corporal.

During the time he served as a Marine, he met Autumn Wendler who became his life partner. They lived together and shared many adventures including travel to Jamaica and Italy. He enjoyed travel, appreciating the beauty and experiencing diverse cultures and had dreams to venture back to his homeland of Norway.

Adam had a soft spot for animals but a very special place in his heart for his “doggos”. Peanut was his joy whom he spoiled beyond belief. Adam also had a passion for wolves and was a member of the Wolf Sanctuary where he had the opportunity to be up close with the wolves themselves.

In his early 20’s he was gifted a DNA test which confirmed his Nordic Heritage. He wore this with honor and relished the fact that he was, indeed, a true Viking. He sported the Viking hair and beard (always so proud of that beard). His gift list included anything Viking…axes, swords, horns, knives, and mead…. always mead!

As he always enjoyed cooking, he decided to follow his passion and chose a path in the culinary arts. In culinary school, Adam was an amazing student, appreciated by the Chefs and students alike.  He always went above and beyond with dreams of studying under Gordon Ramsey and owning his own Michelin Star restaurant (Viking theme of course).

Grateful for sharing his life and is survived by his long-term girlfriend Autumn Wendler, parents Cary and Trisha (Anderson) Gertie, siblings Bob (Debbie) Gertie, Nick (Dillon) Gertie, Brendon Gertie, Emily Gertie, Chase Gertie; maternal grandparents George Anderson, Tina (Orlyn) Haug, numerous nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins as well as a host of friends and military family.
