Johnson, Carroll O. of Scottsdale passed away peacefully on July 11, 2015. He was born in Kilbourne, Louisiana to Kate and Pinckney Johnson, Sr. on April 13, 1933. Active with the Boy Scouts throughout his youth, he attained the rank of Eagle Scout.
Carroll was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1951-1955 with Fighter Squadron 172 on the aircraft carriers USS Franklin D. Roosevelt and USS Wasp.
His entire career was spent in pharmaceutical research and development, retiring in 2005 from Research Management, Inc. He served on the Boards of Directors of Alliance Pharmaceutical Company and the Hemophilia Foundation. Carroll dearly loved Ella’s singing, Gershwin, Porter, Jazz, Cajun food, BBQ, and the Dallas Cowboys (not necessarily in that order).
He is survived by Fran Johnson, his loving wife of over 50 years, their son Douglas M. Johnson (Pamela); daughter Lynn J. Gagliano (Ron); grandchildren Erin (Shane), Laura, Carolyn, Benjamin, and Daniel; great-grandchild Noah; brother Pinckney M. Johnson, Jr. (Bobbie); and several nieces and nephews.
Carroll’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the care he received at Scottsdale Osborn Medical Center, particularly from his excellent and compassionate nursing team.
