Those left to honor Carroll’s memory are his wife, Agnes of Newton; son and daughter-in-law, David and Shirley Birkenholz of Newton; his daughter and son-in-law, Janet Miller and George White of Depoe Bay, Oregon; 2 grandchildren, Sara and Brian Birkenholz; his brother, Henry C. Birkenholz, Jr.; and 3 nephews.
Carroll served his country as a Command Pilot B-29 314th Bomb Wing during WWII in Guam and as a Command Pilot B-29 307th Bomb Wing during the Korean War in Okinawa.
He was a Partner and Co-Owner of Birkenholz Realty from the early 1950’s until 1980.
