Carroll Lee Forgy, 79, passed away January 5, 2017 after a short battle with lung cancer.

Carroll was born the only child to Oscar and Nelle Forgy on April 26, 1937 in San Antonio, Texas. Upon graduation from Brackenridge High School, he continued his education at Howard Payne University playing collegiate football and earning his Bachelor of Science degree in 1959.

After coaching in Cherokee for three years, he accepted a position with Belton ISD in 1962. Although he worked in other fields such as law enforcement and business over the years, he always found himself back working with youth and in sports. He coached basketball for the BCYC, officiated high school football, and in later years worked Belton athletic games collecting tickets.

He enjoyed his friends whether it was hanging out at the coffee shop, playing dominoes, hunting, or cooking brisket for the big fourth of July celebration.

He was a die-hard Belton Tiger fan. His grandchildren being raised as Midway Panthers was a bit of a sore spot. When the two teams would compete, he would sit on the Midway side wearing head to toe Belton Big Red and state, “I am rooting for Belton and my grandchild ONLY.”

In recent years, he enjoyed reconnecting with old friends via Facebook. His daily posts were a source of inspiration and encouragement to many. His final post he leaves is “God is faithful. He will make a way out of ‘no way’. He will open doors for you! Hold strong! Keep the faith! Victory is yours!”

Survivors include his daughter Shannon Spradlin and her husband Blaine; son, Chuck Forgy; grandchildren Taylor, Hailey, Kaitlynn and Jacob Spradlin; and mother to his children, Una Forgy.
