Carroll David Bratton

January 9, 1922 – August 9, 2005

Carroll David Bratton, of Sheridan, Arkansas was born on January 9, 1922, in the Crossroads Community in Grant County. He was the son of the late Van Bratton, Sr. and Alice Reynolds Bratton. He died at the Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas on August 9, 2005 at the age of 83 years.

Mr. Bratton was a committed public servant and volunteer, who gave generously of his time, energy and resources. He was a graduate of Sheridan High School and a veteran of the Army-Air Corps, serving during World War II. He devoted 37 years of service to the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service before his retirement. He was a dedicated member of the Sheridan First United Methodist Church, a long-time participant in the Men’s Bible Class and served on the Church Board of Directors, playing an integral role in the church’s current expansion. He also committed over 50 years of service to Lions Club International and served on the Grant County Democratic Committee. He was preceded in death by his two siblings, Olen Bratton and Van Bratton, Jr.

Mr. Bratton’s greatest joy and commitment was to his family. Survivors include his wife: Claudine Plunkett Bratton of the home; a son, Donald Gene Bratton of Edgemont, Arkansas; 4 daughters: Nancy Jones of Little Rock;Joan Pierce of Sheridan;Cathy Leflar of Rogers;and Jan Jewell of Pittsburg, Texas. “Gramps” is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 8 great-grand-children.
