Carroll H. “Bud” Miles, age 84, of Alliance, died at 10:30 p.m.Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at the Mercy Medical Center in Canton. He was born February 4, 1929 in Damascus the son of the late Zalo and Lydia (Guindon) Miles. Bud worked for 30 years for Butler Township and retired as foreman of the road crew. He also was a retired farmer and raised ponies. Bud was a graduate of the Olney Boarding School in Barnesville, a member of the Salem First Friends Church, Friendship Sunday School Class, a Sunday School Teacher, worked with the Awana Program at the church, a former janitor of the church, caretaker of Quaker Canyon Camp, a 4-H leader, a member of the Farm Bureau, president of Damascus Historical Society, and a member of the Damascus Ruritan Club, where he held offices in the club for many years and had perfect attendance. For 17 years Bud and Marlene were foster parents for more than 25 children. His first wife, Marie (Baker) Miles, a son, Richard Miles and a stepdaughter, Marlena Miller also preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Marlene (Adams) Miller Miles, whom he married May 16, 1987; 3 sons, Robert (Connie) Miles of Seattle, Washington, Raymond (Patty) Miles of Fairfax Station, Virginia and Ronald (Denise) Miles of Toledo; 3 daughters, Linda Rogers of Spokane, Washington, Carolyn Birkhimer of Louisiana and Rosemary York of Louisiana; a stepson, Duane (Carol) Miller of Fort Wayne, Indiana; 2 sisters, Mary Aufrance of Alliance and Susan (John) Roth of Nelsonville; a brother, Richard Miles of Arkansas; 10 grandchildren, Eric Lasky, Brandy Lasky, Chris Miles, Jason Birkhimer, Ryan Birkhimer, Jessica Miles, Kelly Miles, Danielle Miles, Craig Miles and Scott Miles; 2 step grandchildren, Hadley Miller and Tadd Miller; 2 step great-grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren; and his faithful friend – his dog, Fluffy.
