Carrie Mae Sanders Matthews 97, of Decatur died Sunday June 10, 2012 at her home. She was born September 15, 1914 to Jessie and Leberta Johnson Sanders in Lawrence, County AL.
She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and was a dedicated member of Shiloh M.B. Church where she served in numerous capacities.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory: three children; Elnater Malone, Richard Reed and Ellie Matthews Jr. (Gladys) all of Decatur; two Sisters, Neaster Sanders – St. Louis, MO. and Patsy Pointer – Chattanooga, TN; thirteen Grandchildren, Forty-three Great Grandchildren, Twelve Great-Great Grandchildren; one sister-in-law: Emma Lou Matthews – Madison, AL; devoted care givers – grandson, Michael Fletcher and family friend, Andrea Brown and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
