Those left to honor Carrie’s memory are her son, Gene (Mary Ann) Schermerhorn of Newton; granddaughters: Sindy (Brian) Brooks of Denver, Colorado; and Shelly (Bob) Fitzgerald of Castle Rock, Colorado; her five great-grandchildren, Adam Wozniak, Joseph Wozniak, Luke Wozniak, Jessica Daiker, and Nicholas Daiker; great-great-grandson, Cayden Wozniak; and her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Anna (Klobnak) Cooper; husband, Roy D. “Shorty” Schermerhorn in 1992; 4 brothers, and a sister.
In Carrie’s early working years, she was a sales clerk for the J. C. Penney Co. and also at Mode-O-Day. Carrie later worked many years as a cook and baker for the Newton Community Schools, retiring in the late 1970’s.
Carrie loved making homemade noodles. She also enjoyed quilting and gardening.
