Carrie was born September 09,1950 to the late Calvin and Gussie Johnson Thompson in Decatur, AL. She departed this life November 08, 2022 at her residence in Huntsville, AL.
Carrie Jean grew up in Decatur, AL. She attended Cherry Street and Lakeside High School. She went on to attend Calhoun and Drake College. She graduated with a degree in Nursing. Nursing was the only career she ever worked professionally. She held this position at Huntsville Hospital for over twenty years.
Carrie came from a family of nine children. She was the eighth child of this clan. She grew up in a household where serving God, attending church and bible study was required. In her earlier days, she was a member of Macedonia C.P. Church in Decatur, AL. As an adult, she became a born-again Christian and was baptized in the early nineties. She became a member of The Rock Family Worship Center in Huntsville AL.
She learned at an early age how to care for others. She loved helping others and has lived her life in servitude. Helping the “underdog”, encouraging people to follow their dreams and passion in life excited her. Carrie had many life experiences. She had traveled many places, experienced love, heartache and pain. However, she believed if you start each day with a grateful heart… everything else… would be ALRIGHT.
Carrie had fond memories of spending time with her siblings and parents at the kitchen table. Every day after school, the family would gather for tea cakes with a glass of milk. She loved the “quietness of the evening” and this daily reunion would enhance and prioritize love for family . She believed if you love someone, you should tell them because you are telling God that you love him also. 1 Corinthian 13: 4-7 speaks of this love.
Carrie was a gifted singer. She was great entertainment for her family at holidays and special events.
