Carrie Houtsma, nee Witvoet, age 86, of Lansing, IL, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 15, 2021.  Beloved wife of the late Alfred Houtsma.  Loving mother of Ruth (Kevin) Porte, Linda (Jim) Foster, and Rosemary (Ken) Jellema. Cherished grandmother of 12; great-grandmother of 31. Dear sister of the late John (late Joann) Witvoet, late William “Bill” (Lucille) Witvoet, late Boyd “Pete” (Nancy) Witvoet Jr., late Andrew “Tim” (Jan Van Kuiken) Witvoet,  late Robert (Barb) Witvoet, Sadie Lynn (Jack) Puent, and James (Debbie) Witvoet. Sister-in-law Alice Reimers, Jean Ellen (Julian) Kuipers and Arlene (John) Pfau.  Aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents Boyd Sr. and Sadie Witvoet.

Mom loved her Savior, family and friends and served them faithfully for all her life. She had an amazing gift of hospitality and anyone was welcome for a cup of coffee, a meal or place to stay. She loved to cook, sew, read, and crochet. She loved to visit with her family and friends in person or by phone. She served as a head Calvinette counselor for many years. She was involved in Coffee Break for many years and later in her life as the leader of the widow’s bible study.

Her goal was to make more food than we could eat. She helped cook at Rock River Bible Camp for 20 years and served as a cook on a mission trip in Eastern Kentucky. Words can never convey what she meant to her family. Thank you mom for your selfless love.
