Carrie Belle Schwarzmann, 96, of Westminster, died Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at the Dove House. Born Dec. 19, 1919 in Thomasville, PA, she was the eldest daughter of the late Mervin D. Jacobs and Jennie Mae (Brown) Jacobs. She was the wife of the late George Allen Schwarzmann, Sr. who died in 1993.
She was a graduate of East Berlin (PA) High School in 1937, Millersville College in 1941 (BS in Education) and Penn State University in 1945 (Masters in Education). She taught rural school in a one room schoolhouse in Adams Co., PA for 2 years (1941-1943), 5th and 6th grades in Hanover, PA (1943-1945), 5th grade in State College, PA (1945-1946). She taught in the Baltimore City Public Schools for an additional 27 years (1953-1980). She was a member of the Maryland Retired State Teachers, Baltimore Retired Teachers and the Carroll County Retired Teachers.
She married George Allen Schwarzmann, Sr. of Baltimore, MD on April 18, 1946 and lived in Baltimore from 1946-1975, when she and her husband moved to Millers, MD. In 2006 she moved to Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster, MD.
She is survived by 3 sons and daughters-in-law, George Jr. and Brenda Schwarzmann and Joseph and Judy Schwarzmann, all of Wisconsin, David and Chris Schwarzmann of Pasadena, MD, sisters Jennie Wantz and Louise Rebok of York, PA and Nancy Fasnacht of Hanover, PA, 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by siblings Mervin Jacobs, Jr. of San Antonio, TX, Mary Miller of York, PA and George Jacobs of Cochranville, PA.
