Carolina (aka Carolyn) DeGennaro (nee Zarro) passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, July 23, 2021 in Woodbridge, Connecticut at the age of 100. Born on June 30, 1921 in Hamden, CT, Carolyn was the daughter of Vincenzo Zarro and Alphonsina Sandillo. She lived in Hamden for her childhood and early life and attended Hamden High School. She was predeceased by her husband, Salvatore DeGennaro. After they were married in 1948, the couple moved to Woodbridge where they raised their family. In the early days, Carolyn worked alongside her husband on the family farm while raising four children. Later in life she amazed her family and friends by becoming a school bus driver for the Head Start Program in the Woodbridge school system. As a homemaker, Carolyn was an exceptional cook – known especially for her homemade tomato sauce and pickled eggplant – and loved to host large picnics in the family’s backyard to the enjoyment of many.
