     Mrs. Carolyn Y. Lott, C.P.A., of Lanett, Alabama passed away on Monday, October 17th, 2022 in Opelika, Alabama. Carolyn was born December 4th, 1950 to the late, Bobby & Ruth C. Yates of Fairfax.

     Carolyn is survived by her husband of 54 years, Joe Lott, who was her high school sweetheart that she married on August 16th, 1968. She is also survived by her son, Shannon Lott (Shain); grandson, Tyler Lott (Kenna Youngblood); great-granddaughter, Everleigh Lott; siblings, Elaine Helton (Walter), Christy Walker (Danny), Rusty Yates (Laurie), and Todd Yates; brothers-in-law, Charlie Lott (Jane), John Lott (Diane) and Ruben Lott; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

     Carolyn graduated from Valley High School in 1969. She graduated from Southern Union in 1981, with an Associates Degree. She then attended Auburn University and transferred to Troy State University where she received her Bachelors Degree in Accounting in 1984.

     Carolyn began her career in accounting at the age of 19 with Mr. Beard in Lanett. She then worked for several other companies in the accounting field. Upon receiving her Georgia Certified Public Accountant license in February 1991 and her Alabama Certified Public Accountant license in June 1991, she opened her own practice in Lanett, Alabama in July of that year. Carolyn later received her Certified Fraud Examiners license in August 2004. Her business has continued to grow throughout the past 3+ decades. She presently employees a staff of five highly trained employees with over 90 years of accounting experience.

     Carolyn is a member of the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants, The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

     Over the years Carolyn has remained true to her community by serving on numerous Boards and Committees. She has always been a faithful supporter of many organizations in which she donates her time very generously. Currently she is involved with the West Point Rotary Club, Greater Valley Area Crimestoppers, Valley Haven School, Greater Valley Area Chamber of Commerce, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, West Point Women’s Club, Greater Valley Area Auburn Club, Greater Valley Area Democratic Club, Chattahoochee Fuller Center Project and to top it off she is a Volunteer Fire “Woman” for the Flat Shoals Volunteer Fire Department. She was honored in April 2018 by The Chattahoochee Council Boy Scouts of America as the 2018 Distinguished Citizen Award.

     She LOVES attending Auburn football games. She also enjoys gardening, reading, and spending time with her family.
