Carolyn S. Jackson, 83, of Phoenix, Arizona was called to her eternal resting place on September 4, 2022. Born in Baltimore, Maryland on May 17, 1939, to Frank J. Webb and Irma Knight Webb. She had a fulfilling childhood with her two sisters; Terree and Frances, filled with laughter and good fun (and a few alligators).
Carolyn spent her early years devoted to raising her three children. Her love for Sherrie, Michelle, and Wayne was deep and wholehearted. She reveled in their accomplishments and treasured every moment spent with them. She instilled in them confidence, independence, and creativity. She took great delight in passing on the family legacy, telling stories, and sharing the values, passions and traditions that fueled the family for generations.
In addition to her successes at IBM, she earned her master’s degree at the Wharton School in 2002, and went on to start her own consulting firm, Advance Business Strategies. She assembled international teams of experts to tackle the most complex aspects of business strategy and design, including developments in Artificial Intelligence for Fortune 100 companies around the globe.
In the late 1990’s, she decided to explore her culinary passions. Upon taking a two-year sabbatical and leasing commercial space in Denver, Carolyn became sole owner and operator of Cocoaberry Bakery specializing in 100% whole grain bread. She was the face and the hands of the business. She mixed, shaped, and baked each loaf using recipes she had developed in her own home kitchen. Up and at ’em every morning at 3 am, Carolyn greeted the locals with her fresh-from-the-oven delights and beautifully layered confections.
Carolyn was a timeless figure of grace, strength, and style – noted for her elegance and eloquence. She carved her own path and marched to the beat of her own drum. She was talented and accomplished, a remarkable woman. In all the years since then, her depth of character continued to shine through. She made a rare and notable contribution to the feminine spirit.
In 2005, Carolyn attended a three-day Buddhist retreat in rural Colorado where she met Malcolm Goggin. Two years later they were married at a charming chapel in Aspen and have spent the last 15 years dining, dancing, and sipping wine in some of the most beautiful parts of the world. Her personal favorites being Thailand, Isla Mujeres, China, France, and Ireland.
Believing there is an unlimited flow of abundance in the universe, Carolyn lived life to the fullest. A life full of love, joy, happiness, fulfillment, and living out her wildest dreams. She created wonderful memories and truly enriched the lives of her family, friends, and even those casual acquaintances she briefly engaged in conversation. She cherished every special adventure she had with her grandchildren, children, and husband. We will always remember the stories she told, never really knowing if they were truth or fiction, highlighting both her creatively playful and mischievous sides. She had remarkable penmanship. How we will forever cherish the wonderful notes in her distinctive handwriting. Carolyn relished poetry, the symphony, and had a ferocious appetite for knowledge which she gained through reading. In her drive to expand on her knowledge and skills, she participated in philosophy groups, book clubs, and thoroughly enjoyed the performing arts. And as many of us know, she had quite the affinity for luxurious skin care products!
Carolyn was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Carolyn Jackson Goggin now has a hand in the sunrises and the glow of the grass for each of us.
