Carolyn Sue Parkinson, 79 of Centralia, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Doctors Nursing Home in Salem.

Sue was born May 28, 1937 in Kell, daughter of Marvin Tate and Lucy (Guyman) Tate. She married Maurice Parkinson on June 19, 1955 at the Dix Methodist Church and he preceded her in death on July 22, 2016.

She is survived by a daughter: Rebecca Nix and husband Frank of Bluford, IL, a son: Duane Parkinson and wife Denise of Claremore, OK, granddaughters: Felicia Nix and husband Arlo Holmes of Bloomington, Il., Megan Parkinson and fiancé Chuck Thompson, Amanda Jones and husband Myles, and Emily Parkinson all of Claremore, OK, Grandson: Aaron Nix and wife Christine of University Place, WA, Great-grandchildren: William Breeden of Bloomington, Il, Jonathan Nix and Claire Nix both of University Place, WA, Marcus Parkinson and Quentin Parkinson both of Claremore, OK; a brother, Merle “Bud” Tate and wife Sharon of Mt. Vernon; two sisters: Betty Sledge of Texico and Vera Rompasky of Salem; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother: Charles Tate and a sister, Marvene Edson.

She worked as a secretary for the Holtkamp Company. She was a member and past president of the V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 2055 of Centralia and held several District 13 offices.

Sue was very active in the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She was also a Red Cross Volunteer and a member of the Centralia American Legion. Most of all her greatest enjoyment was sewing, helping others, and spending time with her family and friends.
