Carolyn Jean Stoughton Sliger, born on February 24, 1948 to Jack and Donna Stoughton in Los Angeles, California, passed away Friday, January 12, 2018 in Spokane Washington. Recently of Moscow, Idaho, Carolyn grew up in Lake Sherwood and Thousand Oaks, California where she spent most of her life. She graduated from Thousand Oaks High school in 1966. While attending high school she began working for her father where she learned bookkeeping and accounting skills, and used these skills to set up a small bookkeeping business which she ran until her retirement in 2016. Carolyn and her first husband, Melvin Frost, wed in 1970 in Anchorage, Alaska where Mel worked in the oil patch. They celebrated the birth of their son Brian in late 1971 in Fort St. John, British Columbia. Carolyn and Mel divorced in 1975 and she relocated back to Thousand Oaks, California with her son. Carolyn was later happily married to David Sliger in 1987 and resided in Little Rock California with him until his death in 2000, when she again relocated to her home in Thousand Oaks in 2002. In 2008 her first granddaughter was born, and Carolyn found the love of her life. This was followed by the birth of her grandson in 2013 and there was nothing she valued more than her grandchildren and being able to be with them. Her grandchildren were her world and she was happy to share about them in great detail to anyone who would listen. In 2016 she was able to realize her fondest wish of being with them and relocated to Moscow, Idaho where she was able to reside with them until her death. Carolyn was an avid quilter and many of her friends and loved ones have this manifestation of her love in quilted form. She also enjoyed old movies, musicals, mystery books, crafting and embroidery. Throughout her life she was active in the Reseda and Canoga Park Kiwanis, the Canoga Park Chamber of Commerce and the Moscow Lion’s club, in addition to a number of quilting groups in each city she lived in. Carolyn was preceded in death by her father, Jack Myers Stoughton, her mother, Donna Jeanne Clyde Rathbun, her husband David Audell Sliger, and her brother John Stoughton. She is survived by her son Brian Frost, his wife Rebecca, and their two children Shai and Cody. She also leaves behind three step-sons, Glenn, Steven and Robert Sliger, as well as her brother, William Stoughton, her nephews Bill and Brandon Stoughton, and nieces Kerri Stoughton and Kellie Shannon.
