Carolyn S. West, 60, of Trail Creek, Indiana died Thursday night, April 28, 2011 at the University of Illinois Hospital from complications during surgery. Carolyn was born August 30, 1950 in Helena, Arkansas to William and Esther (Holder) Watkins. Her family moved to Michigan where she attended New Buffalo area schools and graduated in 1968 from Three Oaks High School.
She continued her education, earning an Associate’s Degree in Nursing. Carolyn was employed as an RN in the O.B. Department at St. Anthony Hospital in Michigan City, Indiana since 1993. She enjoyed reading, shopping, and working on craft projects. Carolyn was a member of the Three Oaks Free Methodist Church.Carolyn is survived by her husband, Ronald “Billy” West whom she married on April 29, 1988 in LaPorte, Indiana.
Also surviving are her children, Michael Lumley of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Stacey Holmes of Rolling Prairie, Indiana; James Williams Jr of Trail Creek; Terri (Adam) Bennett of Minot, North Dakota; and Amanda West of Michigan City; grandchildren, Mikey, Morgan, Kristin, Trey, Andrew, Jacoby, Zade, Sammie and Robert; sister Ruby Lyons; brothers, Bill (JoAnn) Watkins and Bobbie (Pat) Watkins and her nieces and nephews.
