Carolyn Patricia (Pryor) Jackson, daughter of the late Guilli and James Pryor was born in Newark, New Jersey on November 22, 1946.

She attended public schools and attended Eastern High School.  After high school she worked various jobs, but mostly loved working as a Nurse’s Aide at George Washington Hospital for many years.  She later went on to work with the U.S. Department of Treasury as a Tape Librarian.  Carolyn was truly devoted to her job and worked diligently up until her failing health, whereby she later retired.

She married Rufus Jackson who affectionately called her “Slim.”  They shared a union of 38 years together.   Carolyn loved bowling and spent several years participating in leagues traveling out of town to participate in many, many tournaments.  She spent years with her teammates enjoying each other’s fellowship, bowling and won many trophies.  Her passion was singing and she had a melodious voice.

Carolyn was truly a ray of sunshine to everyone she came in contact with.

She especially enjoyed time with family, travelling to Myrtle Beach and other Maryland beaches to dance, picnic and have fun with her family.  She especially enjoyed taking her children and grandchildren to Kings Dominion.  As often as her health would allow, she provided support for her grand and great-grandchildren for their sport and dance activities.

In 1986, she re-dedicated her life to Christ and joined Elim Baptist Church of Temple Hills, Maryland.  While there, she served and sang praises to our Lord as a member of the Voices of Elim Choir for many years.  Although her health began to fail her, she did not let her faith waiver and continued her fellowship at St. Matthews Baptist Church, Washington, DC, whenever she could attend.

On Tuesday, May 23rd God called his “Earth Angel to Glory!”  She peacefully made her transition from her earthly home to her heavenly home into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband of 38 years, Rufus Jackson; one daughter , LaJuan Bradford; two granddaughters, Quiana Howell (Willie), Zhane’ Bradford; one Grandson, James Bradford; two great-grandsons, Keyonte and Zacari Howell; two sisters, Vonnie Lindsay, Debbie Green; one brother Lawrence Pryor (Cliffornia); one Sister- in- Law Theodorsia White; four Aunts, Marjorie P. Jones (God-Mother), Shirley Dean Williams, Barbara Powell, June Florence; one uncle, Ronald L. Dean; one God-Daughter, Keisha (Lynch) Mincey; and a devoted friend Theresa Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
