Carolyn is survived by her son, Tom (Lynn) Gray of Fort Dodge, Iowa; 2 grandchildren–Jack (Marie) Gray of Newton, and Christina Gray of California; 2 great-grandchildren–Charlotte and Katie Fonseca; 2 sisters–Ethel Collins of Waterloo, and Helen Schwitter of Davenport; and many nieces and nephews.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Marti (Smith) Olson; and her brother, Henry Collins.
Carolyn grew up in Estherville, Iowa and also lived in Waterloo. She lived in Newton for 30 years, before moving to Ira. Carolyn was employed at the Maytag Company for 40 years, where she worked as a press operator and also on the assembly line.
Carolyn was a member of the Local UAW 997, and attended the Newton Baptist Temple. She enjoyed watching and feeding the birds, and also liked fishing.
