Carolyn Louise Patterson Stevens, age 73, of Huntley, Montana passed away peacefully in her sleep, Thursday, December 10, 2015, at the home of her daughter in Meridian, Idaho.

She was born September 24, 1942 to Mary Ann Patterson (Hollowell) and Jake Patterson in Forsyth, Mt.  She was raised on her family’s homestead nine miles east of Hysham, MT, and attended school in Sanders and Hysham.

After her divorce she moved back to Montana to be closer to her mother and siblings.  She was fiercely independent and supported herself by starting her own lab, CS Labs, which ran Coggins tests for horse owners across the state.  She was a lifetime horse woman and rode both English and western.

Carolyn was able to travel the world and had seen Italy, Japan, France, Australia, Nova Scotia, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and Yugoslavia.  When her son and daughter were teenagers she took them on a two week road trip from Boise, Idaho to San Antonia, Texas stopping at the Grand Canyon and Lake Powell and taking whatever road looked promising.

She was a loving grandmother to three grandsons; Rowen, Adrian and Ryland.  When Adrian was born prematurely she closed her business for two weeks to care for Rowen so her daughter could spend more time at the hospital.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Marisa and Michael Keith, and their three sons of Meridian, ID; mother, Mary Ann Patterson of MT; siblings, Kim Guesanburu (Robert), and Teen Patterson of Montana and Wretha Welch of WA; nieces, Tessa Mauricio (Gabriel) and Cortni Guesanburu,  and nephew, Richard Welch, all of Montana.  She was preceded in death by her father, Jake Patterson, and son Karsten Stevens.

Carolyn wished that her ashes be placed alongside those of her son at her childhood home next to the Yellowstone River.  The date of this has not yet been determined.
