Carolyn Joyce Cox Morley passed away peacefully in Colorado Springs, CO on June 22, 2018 at age 90 and is now reunited with her eternal companion. She was born on April 17, 1928 in Wilmar, California to Lester and Jennie (Carlgren) Cox. She grew up in California and was the youngest with 1 sister and 2 brothers. Going to the beach was a favorite pastime and she loved cheering as a pom-pom girl in high school. After graduating from high school, she was in art school at Pasadena City College where she designed a float for the Rose Parade that won an award. She then attended Brigham Young University where she met her husband from Idaho Falls, John W. Morley, on a blind date. They married on September 9, 1951 in Glendale, CA and lived in Sierra Madre where they started a family. Idaho Falls, ID was their next move where Carolyn taught junior high school art and science, and was a guidance counselor. In 1968, the family moved to Colorado when her husband became active duty military at the Air Force Academy. After John retired from the Air Force, they lived in a home that Carolyn designed and that they had built next to the golf course. She worked as a counselor for Pikes Peak Mental Health, counseling children and families.
