Carolyn Joanne Halstead Patrick, 79, of Lafayette, passed away at home due to cancer January 23, 2022, she was surrounded by her family.
She was born in Lafayette in November 1942 to the late Arthur V. and M. Pauline Halstead. When she was in 3rd grade the family moved to West Point. Carolyn was a 1960 graduate of Southwestern High School. She (we) considered her classmates as family and stayed in touch over the years with many of them. She then attended and graduated from The House of James Beauty College and owned a beauty shop in West Point for several years. After closing the beauty shop, she worked for the Tippecanoe County Court House, retiring in 2003 after 25 years of service. She was a charter member of the West Point Baptist Church and played piano and organ until its permanent closing. On June 24, 1962, she married David W. Patrick, he survives.
Her children would love to acknowledge the gift of generosity their mother showed to others.
Along with her husband, she is survived by her 2 children, Nanette L. (Doug) Everett of Lebanon and Darin T. (Chris) Patrick of West Lafayette; 3 siblings Linda (Paul) Ostheimer of Grabill, Becky (Don) Lucas of Lebanon, and Gary (Monica) Halstead of Indianapolis; 7 grandchildren, Tyler Everett, Abby Everett Nice, Luke Everett, Sally Everett Steffy, Owen Patrick, Kali Wooldridge, and Corey Wooldridge; and 3 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Pauline, as well as her brother Michael who died at birth.
We owe a debt of gratitude to her loved ones who cared for her in her final days. These selfless angels were her daughter, Nanette, her son, Darin and his wife Chris, her sister, Becky and her granddaughter, Sally.
