Carolyn Jean Taylor, 70, of South Jacksonville, IL died Saturday, March 19, 2016, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville, IL.

She was born May 16, 1945 in Murrayville, IL, the daughter of Ferdinand and Mary Pearl Knapp Hayn.

She is survived by four daughters, Annette Gillis (husband, Donny) of Jacksonville, Lynda Hewitt (husband, Larry) of Davis, Melissa Zoerner of Jacksonville, and Debbie King of Davenport, IA; 14 grandchildren, Brandon Lashmett, Jonathan Butler, Corey Brogdon, Chelsea Runkle, Joshua Butler, Darian Overton, Aidan Overton, Taylor Zoerner, Makenzi Crouse, Afton Gillis, Payton Gillis, Tanner Gillis, Josh Hewitt, and Dustin Hewitt; 8 ½ great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Weinant of Lynnville and Marie Grinkey (husband, Gerald) of Delafield, WI; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ferdinand Hayn; her mother, Mary Pearl Morris; a grandchild, Epiphany Nicole Taylor; and a sister, Patricia Combs (surviving husband, Marty of Jacksonville).

Carolyn Jean was a 1963 graduate of White Hall High School and was employed at Modern Care Convalescent Center, Mobil Chemical, and the YMCA, all in Jacksonville. She thoroughly enjoyed trips to Red Lobster for a meal and had recently begun creating beautiful mesh wreaths to share with her family and friends. Her greatest joy came from time spent with her family.
