Carolyn Jakes DeWitt, 80, of Pendleton, passed away on November 25, 2014 at Riverwalk Village in Noblesville.

She was born on October 4, 1934 in Anderson, resided most of her life in Pendleton. Carolyn graduated from Anderson High School in 1952. She retired from Delco Remy in 1990 after 37 years of service. She was a member of UAW #662, Southern Heights Christian Church, and attended First Church of the Nazarene. Carolyn loved to crochet, enjoyed giving babies love in the church nursery, and most of all spending time with her family.

Carolyn is survived by her loving husband whom she married June 25, 1965, William E. DeWitt; children, Janice (Dennis) Reddick of Anderson, John A. (Beverly) DeWitt of Harrison, AR, and Wendell L. (Pam) DeWitt of Anderson; five grandchildren, Megan Reddick, Aaron David DeWitt, Amber DeWitt, Kaity (Zach) Chizm, Erin Nixon, Cade Nixon, and Jennifer (Lee) Leonberger; four great-grandchildren, Kayla, Delanie and David Leonberger and Luke DeWitt; and sister, Helen (Ed) Ogden. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mildred (Wilder) Jakes. The family would like to thank the St. Vincent Hospice caregivers, Cathy, Susan, and Margie. They would also like to thank the caregivers at Riverwalk Village.
