Carolyn J. (Waltz) Hess, 66, formerly of Steam Valley, died Thursday January 5, 2011 at Sycamore Manor.
Born May 28, 1945 in Williamsport, she was a daughter of Clyde and Ruby (Cowher) Waltz.
She was a 1963 graduate of Williamsport High School and a 1966 graduate of the Williamsport Hospital School of Nursing. Carolyn had worked in nursing and retail and was also the owner and manager of the Trout Run Hotel from 1978 -1986.
Surviving are her parents of South Williamsport, a son Matthew B. Gordon (Rachel) of Raleigh, NC, two grandchildren Victoria, Sydney, step-granddaughter Katelynn, three brothers Kenneth E. Waltz (Laurie) of Pheonix City, Ala, Thomas J. Waltz (Barbara) of Williamsport, and Neil A. Waltz (Penny) of Selinsgrove, eight nieces and nephews Jilliane, Kiel, Brooke, Justin, Alexis, Jamee, Samantha, Leah, a special niece Sara, and good friends Al and Karen Cook.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harvey H. Hess in 1991, a brother Ernest E. Waltz, and a longtime friend Tom Hall.
