She made books her life, working as a librarian in both the public and high school libraries in Falmouth, MA. In retirement she volunteered her time at the library in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Even when she was not working, she was a voracious reader, consuming many books every week. She was a skilled wood and fabric craftsman and always had a project. Her creations include furniture, baskets, leather crafts, sails for the family sailboat, sensory blankets for special needs students, sweaters and hats, embroidery, and quilts for various occasions.

She and her husband enjoyed the great outdoors and stayed active well into later years hiking and skiing all across the mountains of the Southwest. Together they were actively involved in numerous nature conservancy efforts, including the Friends of the Coronado Monument in New Mexico.
