Carolyn Frances Douglas, 81
Okeechobee – Carolyn Frances Douglas died March 18, 2021. She was bord February 23, 1940 in Macon, Georgia to Audley Lee and Thelma “Toogie” Hanes.
Carolyn (affectionately know as “Grannie” to many) has been a part of the Okeechobee Community since her family moved here from Macon, Georgia when she was a young girl. She married her soulmate David in July of 1956. Carolyn was a dedicated wife and mother for the family businesses which included, David R. Douglas and Sons, Barlow’s Restaurant, and most recently Crossroads Restaurant. Sitting there at the family table, she imparted the love of Jesus with every smile, every hug, and every infectious laugh. Her unconditional love made each person feel like they were her favorite. We treasure the time we had with her, and this is not a goodbye, only a “see you later” until we see her again in eternity.
Mrs. Douglas was preceded in death by her father Audley Lee Hanes, mother, Thelma “Toogie” Hanes; and brothers, Chad Hanes and Jack Hanes.
She is survived by her husband, David Ryan Douglas, of Okeechobee; children, Jeff Douglas, Rose Marie (Tony) Bullington, Melody Lynn (Lex) Kimsey, Ira Matthew (Sandy) Douglas, all of Okeechobee; fifteen grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, and all of the others who were adopted in.
