Carolyn Elaine Simms passed away peacefully at the age of 52 on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Casey House in Rockville, MD.
Carolyn, affectionately known as Carol, was born March 25, 1965 in Kingston, Jamaica, to Blossom Grace (Chin) and the late Trevor Anthony Chuck.
Looking for new opportunities, the family moved to the Washington, DC area in the early 1970’s to begin a new life.
Carol began her schooling at Rosemary Hills Elementary in Silver Spring, MD and graduated from Bethesda Chevy Chase High School, in Bethesda, MD. In 1990, Carol started her career working with the Montgomery County Public Library where she was still employed at her time of passing.
Arts and crafts and baking was a love of Carols. She would bake cakes and breads for hours, create latch hook and canvas, paint by numbers and crochet anything from placemats to blankets.
Gaming was also a favorite pastime of hers. She would play a variety of card games and board games, work on crossword puzzles and thoroughly enjoyed playing casino games. She was a deep thinker and loved to involve herself in pastimes that required her full concentration.
Carol loved her family and friends and made sure she participated in almost every important life event. She thought of her nieces and nephews as her own. Although leaving Jamaica at a young age, Carol loved her inherited culture and had an affinity for it. She was a member and volunteer of the Jamaican Nationals Association.
Carol leaves to cherish her memory: her loving mother, Blossom Bradley; her caring siblings, Camille (Eddie) Ellis, Chris (Dawn) Chuck, Michelle Bradley, and Roxanne (James)Earnest; loving Nieces, Jamiah White, Ashley (Sarah) Earnest, Danielle Cain, Dialne Chuck, Kaylee Temple and Donisha Reddick; loving Nephews, Trevor Chuck, Donovan Reddick, Bill Earnest, Brandon Chuck, Jermaine White, Jayson Earnest and Little Eddie (Buddha) Ellis; great- nephews, Ayden Earnest and Zackary Cain; one great-niece, Nova Lee Chuck; one goddaughter, Natasha Berryman; a very special friend, Kelly Porter; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, special friends, and treasured colleagues–her work family.
Carol is preceded in death by her father; Trevor Chuck and stepfather John Bradley.
