Those left to honor Carolyn’s memory include her husband, Russell of Newton; two sons–Duane (Amy) Peterson of Newton and Curt (Michelle) Peterson of Newton; her daugher, Ranee Dowdy of Newton; five grandchildren–Michael Peterson, Matthew Peterson, Ryan Peterson, Ben Peterson, and Alec Dowdy; two sisters–Arless Smith of Newton and Judy (Robert) Van Sickle of Laurel; a brother, Stan (Rosa) Dow of Newton; and a sister-in-law, Ula Dow.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Ruby (McCumber) Dow; and a brother, Clarence Dow.
Carolyn graduated from Newton High School in 1957. She had worked at the Newton Motor Inn. She was a member of the Moose Lodge.
