Caroline S. (Soeder) Weil, 76, of Lacon, formerly of Peru and Bloomingdale, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Caroline was born on May 30, 1944 in Peru to Carl and Catherine (Dondelinger) Soeder. She was a graduate of LaSalle-Peru High School and Northern Illinois University.

She married Daniel Weil on December 26, 1972 at St. Joseph’s Church, Peru. Due to juvenile diabetes, Caroline was unable to have children. She and Daniel were set to adopt a little boy in December 1978, however, Daniel passed away unexpectedly on November 4, 1978 and, due to adoption regulations at the time, Caroline was unable to adopt as a widow.

Caroline loved children and taught grammar school in Peru and Chicago until her health prohibited working with children. She then worked as a bank teller for 28 years until her health concerns made her unable to work. She lived in Bloomingdale for 39 years and, due to her declining health, was currently a resident of Lacon Rehab and Nursing Center, formerly known as St. Joseph’s Nursing Home. While a resident of the nursing home, she made many friends and received great care. Survivors include two sisters, Elizabeth and Dorothy Soeder, both of Peru.She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents and one sister, Susan Soeder
