Caroline L. Schmitt (nee Lally) was 92 when she passed away Thursday, June 4th surrounded by her family. Born in Hudson County, Caroline was a resident of New Milford since 1952. A founding member of the Church of the Ascension Roman Catholic Parish in New Milford, she was a member of the Rosary Society, a Eucharistic Minister, a Lector, and a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts. Caroline was the beloved wife of the late Elias J. Schmitt, the loving mother of John and his late wife Catherine, Charles, Gerard and his wife Ellen, Joseph and his wife Cynthia, and Kenneth and his wife Susan. She was the cherished sister of Joseph Lally and his wife Terry and the late Frances Franck. Caroline was the adored grandmother of Noreen, Jason, Melissa, Christina, Jaclyn, Colin, and Eric and the great-grandmother of Mikayla. She was also survived by devoted nieces and nephews.
